One of the main reasons you may be stressed and overwhelmed is that you feel you have too much to do. I suggest that what you do is step back for a moment and look at your current situation from a more distant perspective.

What you will realize is the things that you absolutely have to do are probably far less than you thought they were. You may have placed too many demands on yourself and taken on more than you can handle. Now may be the time to remove some of this pressure from yourself and stop demanding more of yourself than you can realistically give. It may be important to let others know this as well. You see we are human beings, not human doings, and there is definitely a part of our life which has to be enjoyable, fun and free from pressure and demands.

Yes, it is important to set goals and try to achieve targets. But make sure that you enjoy the journey of life at the same time. You see, every time we finish a goal or meet a demand that has been placed upon us, almost instantaneously another one appears. So as you realize that you will never get every single goal that you have set completed, because there are always going to be more just around the corner, then you can be a bit more laid back about life and not have to constantly strive to reach some distant destination.

Life was never meant to be a struggle. Striving, sacrificing and always living in the future and looking to the past are the real reasons that we experience so much stress. If you can spend more time living in the moment and really enjoying it, then it will do you so much more good. Becoming really absorbed in what you are currently doing is the key to living a stress-free life.

Make sure that you take time to enjoy yourself and to have fun. Relax and realize that you don’t have to keep up with the Joneses to be happy and satisfied with your life. Remove any burden that you may have placed on yourself that says you’ve got to be the best in every single area of your life to be content.

By making a conscious effort to shift your perspective from striving to meet demands and always searching for some future destination you will remove a massive amount of stress from your life.

Enjoy life and appreciate it, become engrossed in it and really live it! It is a wonderful privilege that you have and one that you should make the most of.
